The journey into your new life should begin without stress.

Arrival & transfer

From the airport to the front door— taken care of.

Travelling to a new country is stressful on its own. Arriving to start a new chapter of study makes it more so — particularly for students arriving alone, at an unfamiliar airport, with luggage, and without an obvious next step.

Through our partnerships with reputable transfer companies, we organise transportation between airports, stations and the student’s accommodation. The driver is confirmed in advance, the student is met on arrival, and the journey to their new home is handled. Families have the comfort of knowing arrival is taken care of.

  1. Airport transfers

Named-driver collection from arrival terminals at major UK airports, with confirmed booking and meet-and-greet included.

  2. Station & port pickups

Transfer from train stations or ports where students arrive by rail or ferry — coordinated to the student’s confirmed timetable.

  3. Onward coordination

Multi-leg arrivals, same-day accommodation check-in coordination, and return transfers for end-of-term or holiday travel.

What it covers

Arrival arranged in advance, not figured out on the day.

The details that make an arrival smooth — confirmed driver, correct terminal, luggage capacity, accommodation address — need to be established before the student travels, not while they are standing in arrivals.

  1. Named-driver collection

A confirmed driver meeting the student at the arrivals hall by name, with the pickup registered against the flight or train details. No searching for an unmarked vehicle or navigating an unfamiliar transport system with luggage.

  2. Flight tracking and delay management

We monitor inbound flights and adjust driver timing where delays are confirmed. The student does not need to contact the driver or rebook — changes are managed as they occur.

  3. Direct transfer to accommodation

Transport from the airport or station directly to the student’s confirmed address — whether a student residence, homestay, private rental or temporary lodging ahead of move-in day.

  4. Multi-leg and connecting arrivals

Where students travel via a connecting flight, cross-channel route or overnight train, we coordinate the transfer to align with the actual final arrival point and time, not just the first leg.

  5. Group transfers

Where several students arrive together or within the same window — for example, siblings or students from the same school — we organise shared vehicles to simplify logistics and reduce cost.

  6. Return and holiday transfers

End-of-term travel, holiday returns and repeat-journey transfers arranged on the same basis — confirmed vehicle, named driver, tracked departure. Families can request recurring bookings for the full academic year.

How it works

Confirmed before departure,managed through arrival.

Transfer arrangements should be in place before the student travels. We collect the details needed to book and confirm the transfer, and share confirmation with both student and family ahead of departure.

On the day, we track the journey and the driver. If something changes — a delayed flight, a late connection — we manage the adjustment without the student needing to act.

Arrival transfers are most valued where families are not present for the journey and the student would otherwise arrive without a confirmed, familiar point of contact at the other end.

  1. Share flight and arrival details

We collect the student’s arrival airport or station, flight or train number, arrival time, luggage requirements and destination address — ideally at least 72 hours before departure.

  2. Booking confirmed with transfer partner

We place the booking with our transfer partner and issue confirmation to the student and family. The driver’s name and contact details are included so the student knows who to look for.

  3. Flight monitoring on the day

We track the inbound flight or train and notify the driver of any changes. Delays are managed without requiring action from the student or family.

  4. Collection and delivery confirmed

Once the student is collected and on their way, we confirm pickup to the family. On arrival at the accommodation, the journey is complete and the driver signs off the transfer.

Who it helps

For any student arriving in the UK alone or for the first time.

  • School students

Younger students arriving without a parent or guardian.

Students at independent or boarding schools who travel unaccompanied from their home country. Families want confirmation that their child is collected, in a known vehicle, and delivered directly to their accommodation or school.

  • Undergraduate & postgraduate

University students arriving to a new city for the first time.

Students starting at a UK university who arrive at an unfamiliar airport or station with luggage and a confirmed accommodation address. A named transfer removes the uncertainty of navigating public transport with bags on day one.

  • Returning students

Students travelling back after a holiday or end-of-term break.

Students who use the service for regular returns throughout the academic year — end-of-term pickups, post-holiday arrivals, or mid-term visits from family who need a reliable return transfer for the student.

Understanding the scope

What Arrival & Transfer Services is, and is not.

Transfers are organised through our established partner network. Echos coordinates the booking and monitors the journey — the driver and vehicle are provided by the transfer partner.

What it is

Confirmed, coordinated, monitored transfers.

  • Named-driver collection from arrival terminals with meet and greet
  • Flight and train tracking with delay management on the day
  • Direct transfer to the student’s confirmed accommodation address
  • Coordination of multi-leg and connecting-journey arrivals
  • Group transfers for students arriving together
  • Return and repeat-journey bookings across the academic year
  • Confirmation sent to student and family ahead of travel

What it is not

Escorted travel, visa support or on-arrival pastoral care.

  • Not an escorted or chaperoned journey — the driver collects and delivers
  • Not available as same-day booking — transfers require advance notice
  • Not a substitute for visa, immigration or border assistance
  • Not a pastoral service — general settlement support is through Life Mentoring
  • Not a taxi or on-demand service for general local travel
  • Not guaranteed for flights arriving outside the partner’s operating hours without advance arrangement

Transfer bookings should be made at least 72 hours before the student’s arrival. For term-start periods and bank holiday windows, we recommend booking as soon as travel dates are confirmed — availability with preferred partners fills quickly around peak arrival dates.

Arrival is one part of a student’s first weeks in the UK.

A confirmed transfer works best when accommodation is already in place, and settling in benefits from ongoing support once the student arrives.
