Accommodation support

A safe, stable livingenvironment from day one.

A good living environment is directly connected to academic performance, wellbeing and the ability to settle into a new place. For international students arriving in the UK, finding suitable accommodation is one of the most consequential early decisions — and one of the most complex.

We are with students and families at every step of the accommodation process. Whether the right option is a private rental, a homestay placement or a student residence, we help narrow down realistic choices, navigate the process and ensure arrangements are in place before arrival.

  1. Private rental

Guidance through the UK rental process — shortlisting, viewings, referencing, contracts and move-in — with experienced support at every stage.

  2. Homestay

Carefully matched host-family placements for students who benefit from a structured, supportive home environment alongside their studies.

  3. Student residences

Early reservation and guidance for university-managed or private student halls — where timing and knowing your options makes a significant difference.

Accommodation options

Three routes, each suited to different students and situations.

The right accommodation type depends on the student’s age, programme, location, budget and personal circumstances. We help families understand the real differences between options and identify what is realistic for their situation.

  1. Option 01 · Private rental

Renting in the UK, navigated from start to finish.

The UK rental market can be complex and stressful for those who are unfamiliar with it. Legislation, referencing requirements, tenancy agreements and the pace at which good properties move all present challenges for first-time renters — particularly those arriving from abroad.

We help shortlist suitable properties based on the student’s programme, location, budget and household requirements, accompany viewings where possible, review contracts, and support the move-in process through to the point of collecting keys.

    • Property shortlisting matched to location, budget and course
    • Viewing coordination and contract review
    • Referencing and deposit guidance
    • Support through to confirmed move-in
  2. Option 02 · Homestay

A host family placement with structure and care built in.

Homestay arrangements place the student with a carefully vetted host family in the UK. They are particularly well suited to younger students or those who benefit from a settled, structured home environment during their first extended period abroad.

We manage the matching process, with attention to the student’s background, dietary requirements, language needs and proximity to their school or institution. Homestay placements include meals, and hosts are screened and regularly reviewed.

    • Personalised host-family matching
    • Consideration of dietary, cultural and language needs
    • Placement close to school or campus
    • Ongoing monitoring and family support
  3. Option 03 · Student residences

Halls and managed residences — reserved early, chosen carefully.

Student residences — whether university-managed halls or privately operated buildings — are the most popular option for undergraduate and postgraduate students. Demand for the best locations is high, and spaces fill quickly after an offer is confirmed.

We advise on the options available for a specific institution and course, help compare what each residence offers and guide the reservation process in time to secure a place. Most residences offer en-suite single rooms; shared facilities, catered and self-catered options vary significantly between providers.

    • Early guidance on what is available and realistic
    • Comparison of catered, self-catered and en-suite options
    • Reservation timing — ideally at least six months before arrival
    • Support for both university-managed and private providers

How it works

Finding the right placebefore arrival, not after.

Accommodation should be confirmed well ahead of arrival. The later the search begins, the fewer realistic options remain — particularly for student residences and preferred rental areas near major institutions.

We recommend starting the process as soon as an offer is confirmed, or earlier where the likely destination is already known.

  1. Understand requirements

We start by establishing the student’s institution, course start date, location, household requirements and budget — and which accommodation type best fits their situation.

  2. Shortlist and evaluate options

We identify and shortlist suitable properties, placements or residences, explain the real differences between them and help the student and family make an informed decision.

  3. Navigate the process

We guide the application, referencing, contract review or reservation process — depending on the accommodation type — and help the family understand what to expect at each stage.

  4. Confirm before arrival

We ensure arrangements are in place and confirmed before the student travels. Where arrival support is also needed, this can be coordinated alongside our Arrival & Transfer service.

Who it helps

For students arriving in the UK at any level of study.

Accommodation support is relevant wherever a student is relocating to the UK for the first time or moving to a new city for a new programme. The right type of support differs by age and circumstance.

  • School & boarding

Younger students who need a safe, supervised environment.

Students attending independent schools in the UK — particularly those not in full boarding — for whom a homestay placement near the school provides the structure, supervision and daily routine that supports both academic work and wellbeing.

  • Undergraduate

First-year students navigating halls or private rental for the first time.

Undergraduate students arriving at a UK university for the first time — particularly international students unfamiliar with the UK rental market — who need early guidance on halls, private accommodation and how to compare options realistically.

  • Postgraduate & returning

Students moving to a new city or requiring a private rental.

Postgraduate students and those returning after a break who need private rental support — including those unfamiliar with UK tenancy law, referencing requirements or how to evaluate a contract before signing.

Understanding the scope

What Accommodation Support is, and is not.

We guide students and families through the accommodation process. Final decisions, contracts and financial commitments remain with the student and family.

What it is

Guidance, shortlisting and process support.

  • Identifying realistic accommodation options based on location, budget and situation
  • Shortlisting and comparing properties, placements or residences
  • Explaining UK rental law, tenancy terms and what to look for in a contract
  • Matching students to homestay host families and managing the placement
  • Advising on student residence reservation timing and what each option offers
  • Supporting the process through to confirmed, in-place arrangements before arrival

What it is not

A letting agency, landlord or legal guarantor.

  • Not a letting agency — we do not list or manage properties ourselves
  • Not a party to tenancy agreements or financial contracts
  • Not a guarantor for rental payments or deposit obligations
  • Not a provider of legal advice about tenancy disputes
  • Not responsible for decisions the student or family make about specific properties
  • Not able to guarantee availability at any specific property or residence

For student residences, demand for well-located halls fills quickly after offer letters are sent. We strongly recommend starting the accommodation search as soon as an offer is confirmed — and earlier still if the likely institution is already known.

Accommodation is one part of a student’s arrival in the UK. Arrival transfers, visa guidance and ongoing mentoring all work better when they are considered together.
