Programme areas

Three distinct postgraduate routes

  • Master’s & LLM

A postgraduate degree should strengthen the direction.

Subject interests, career purpose, programme structure and entry requirements, then positioning, written materials, references, scholarships and complete application management.

  • PhD & Research

Research applications require more than admissions knowledge.

From research idea through proposal development, supervisor identification, university strategy, funding and interview preparation. The proposal and writing remain the applicant’s own.

  • MBA & Executive

For experienced professionals, the question is different.

School selection, career narrative, essays, recommendations, interviews and application management — planned around what the qualification is meant to change professionally.

PhD advisory process

From research idea to application.

A PhD application requires sustained, careful preparation. Each stage connects to what came before it — the research question shapes supervisor selection, which shapes the application strategy.

  1. Research direction

Defining and testing the research question against current scholarship in the field.

  2. Proposal development

Structuring the proposal. The question, argument and writing remain the applicant’s own.

  3. Supervisor identification

Identifying academics whose published work genuinely aligns with the proposed research.

  4. University strategy

Evaluating departments, fit and application requirements across a credible range of institutions.

  5. Funding & scholarships

Eligibility research, deadlines, nomination processes and written funding applications.

  6. Interview preparation

Academic interview practice and communication of the research rationale.

  7. Application management

Complete oversight of deadlines, submissions, correspondence and requirements.

Academic integrity

The application must remain the student’s own.

Echos teaches, questions, challenges and reviews. We do not write applications, essays, research proposals or assessed work on behalf of students or applicants.

  • We teach, we do not write

Every essay and personal statement is the applicant’s own, developed through structured guidance.

  • Honest direction, not flattery

We tell applicants what the academic profile actually supports — even when that differs from expectations.

  • Independent from institutions

Echos holds no referral arrangements with universities or programmes. Recommendations are made on merit.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

Can Echos work from the early PhD research idea stage?
Yes. That is often the most useful point to begin, while the question can still be shaped and tested against the field before a supervisor or department has been identified.
Can you identify potential supervisors?
Yes. We research departments and academics whose work genuinely relates to the proposed research, and prepare informed, concise approaches where contact is appropriate.
Can you help develop a research proposal?
We help structure, question and review it. The research question, argument and writing remain the applicant’s own.
Do you support scholarships and funding applications?
Yes, including eligibility research, deadlines, evidence and written materials. No adviser can promise a funding outcome.
Is your postgraduate work limited to the UK?
No. The UK is our main area of experience, alongside selected international institutions where Echos has relevant capacity.

The Echos community

Learning continues beyond the application.

From receptions and university visits to conversations with educators and professionals, Echos creates opportunities for students to engage with people, ideas and institutions beyond their immediate academic work.

Start with where the student is today.

Tell us where the student is now, what they may be considering and what remains uncertain. We will help make sense of the options and decide what should happen next.
